Tuesday Evening Dharma

Introduction December 31
The Path - January and February

Facilitated by Rae Collins, James Coleman, Nisa King, Laura Liss, and Bob Liss

     T
he Noble Eightfold Path is a set of eight practices in Buddhism that are a response to the Buddha’s basic teaching of the Four Noble Truths: Pervasive suffering; causes of suffering, the end of suffering, and the path. The Eightfold Path guides us toward the end of suffering from a dedicated effort that consists of: Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration; essentially outlining a program for an ethical life with awareness, and focused concentration to reach liberation from suffering. In modern interpretations “right” may be replaced by “appropriate.”

The Tuesday Evening Dharma leaders are offering a review of the Eightfold Path with an introduction on December 31 to honor our practice efforts for the New Year. Beginners and advanced practitioners may benefit from the discussion sessions in a casual yet invigorating space to share ideas and experiences of how the Eightfold Path elements arise in our lives.

     S
taying focused on a path may support and nurture us in difficult times. When the storms subside, the path effectively guides our strength toward the well-being of all. Please join us for encouragement and community around this principal foundation.
