A Day of Mindfulness: Stopping, Calming, Resting

Stopping, Calming, Resting

A Day of Mindfulness

Saturday June 15

10am - 4pm

“Our true home is what the Buddha called the island of self, the peaceful place inside of us. Often times we don’t notice it’s there; we don’t really know where we are, because our outer or inner environment is filled with noise. We need some quietness to find that island of self.”
Silence-The Power of Quiet in a World Full of Noise, Thich Nhat Hanh

Join us for a day of stopping, calming, and resting to resource and replenish ourselves.

The day will include silent sitting meditation, mindful movement, a Dharma talk, mindful eating, deep relaxation accompanied by live music of Chris Beland, and mindfulness through art and creativity by artist Linda Elder.

  • All interested practitioners are welcome and no prior experience is necessary.
  • This retreat will be held in person at the White Heron Sangha Meditation Center.
  • Noble silence will be observed throughout the day.
  • Dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat, small blanket or throw and something soft for under your head to build a nest for deep relaxation (you may bring a reclining chair if you are not able to lie down during deep relaxation).
  • Bring your lunch. Tea and snacks will be available.
  • Registration for this retreat is required and space is limited. There is no fee and dāna will be accepted.

Chris Beland is a local musician, singer, and song writer in the style of troubadours like Neil Young. Bob Dyaln, and Andrew Bird. He plays Celtic harp, guitar, and other string instruments. Chrisbelandmusic.com
