Make Walking Meditation a Part of Your Day - led by Nisa King
Nisa would like to share with you about Thai Forest traditional and non-traditional walking meditation.
According to Ajahn Nyanadhammo, “the Buddha spoke of five benefits of walking meditation (AN 111,29). In the order that he listed them in this sutta, they are as follows”:
* It develops endurance for walking long distance e.g. tudong
* It overcomes drowsiness: without mindfulness and awareness, meditation can turn into dullness
* It leads to good health
* It’s good for digestion after the meal
* It’s good for sustaining concentration
Integrating a formal walking meditation (a few minutes) into your daily routine. As you know, practice makes progress. Overtime, you might notice that you can bring a similar degree of awareness into any walk, hike, or other physical activity. The most important thing is to experience the sense of presence that is available to us at every moment.
Today I would suggest that you choose an appropriate practice either walk or sit that serves you best.
“In. Out. Deep. Slow. Calm. Ease. Smile. Present moment. Wonderful moment.”― Thich Nhat Hanh
Buddhist practice is supported and nourished by a community of fellow practitioners. Please join us as we practice in the form of first sitting then moving and then sitting followed by sharing some tea and social time together.
