In the Theravada tradition the Ten Perfections, or "paramis", provide a foundation for developing awareness along the path of enlightenment. In this time of great societal transformation, we will explore renunciation as a foundational paramis based in love and compassion for self and the earth. We will draw on teachings from across Buddhist traditions, and provide participants with resources to explore renunciation practice through a broader lens. Susan Taylor was ordained as a Theravada Buddhist Minister and Environmental chaplain by Gil Fronsdal in 2015. The name given at ordination was "Panapala" (protector of all living beings). She has taught at Sacramento Insight Meditation, Central Valley Insight Meditation, and Buddhist Insight Network. She has also presented at annual Buddhist Chaplaincy gatherings in San Francisco. She has served as a retreat manager at the Insight Retreat Center in Scotts Valley, and has also served on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Dharma Center, the Sati Center for Buddhist Studies, and Central Valley Insight Meditation.
