Nisa King - What Is the Path to Freedom?
Ever felt like the harder you try to control a situation, the more stressed you get?
If someone were to ask you right now, "What is the path to freedom from suffering?"—what would you say? It sounds like a profound question, yet the fundamental answer is remarkably gentle: It is learning to hold life on an open palm.
When we panic and clench our hand around a handful of sand, our muscles tense and the sand escapes anyway. In daily life—when discomfort, delays, or unmet expectations arrive—we frequently react with that same tight resistance. The Buddha described this as shooting ourselves with a "second arrow," multiplying our pain through our mental fight against what is.
In this talk, we will reflect on:
* The Three Forms of Craving – Uncovering how sensory desire, identity, and resistance drive our stress.
* The Two Arrows Teaching (Salla Sutta) – Learning to stop compounding life's natural discomforts.
* Skillful Becoming – Cultivating a steady home of concentration so we can finally relax our grip.
Join us to explore "The Art of Holding Sand Openly" and discover how changing our relationship to discomfort can change everything.
