Invited Teacher: Mushim Ikeda - DISAPPOINTED! (And mad and sad)
About this event
Mushim Ikeda
DISAPPOINTED! (And mad and sad)
As 2025 continues, politically, socially, environmentally, spiritually, how do we hold often overwhelming emotions of sadness and anger and anxiety within our Dharma and meditation practices? Join Mushim Ikeda for a Dharma talk and Q and A.
Mushim Patricia Ikeda (she/her) is an internationally known mindfulness and Buddhist teacher, social justice activist, author, diversity-equity-inclusion consultant, and mother based in Oakland, California in the U.S. A core teacher at the East Bay Meditation Center, Mushim's article, "
I Vow Not to Burn Out" (for mindful activists), went viral when it was published by Lion's Roar many years ago and it has been reprinted numerous times. In an earlier incarnation, she was one of the first published Asian American poets, under the name Patricia Y. Ikeda, and she has a background in monastic Zen Buddhist practice, has worked construction labor, and volunteered for 11 years in the Oakland public schools. Mushim has taught residential meditation retreats for People of Color, women, and retreats open to all and is known for her practical, trauma-and-access-informed, and humorous teaching style.
