A Day of Practice: Calm Abiding

A Day of Practice
Calm Abiding

Saturday, December 9 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

led by Mick Malotte
Qigong and Metta assisted by Nisa King

Calm abiding (samatha) is an essential ingredient for awakening. It brings a restorative peace and contentment. Most importantly it empowers insight practice, which frees us from distress and opens up “the sweet joy of the way.”

The good news is that the heart and mind already know the way to calm abiding.  All we need to do is unplug, rest, and create helpful conditions.  We then simply let go and let nature unfold in this enjoyable process.

During this day of silent practice, we will bring in the helpful qualities of the seven factors of awakening, especially ease, joy, and tranquility.

The day will include silent periods for sitting and walking meditation, as well as gentle Qigong and metta.

This retreat is suitable for those new to meditation and also those with experience.  It’s a great way to prepare for the busyness of the holidays.

Please join us as we practice together.
