As you may know, I normally teach a Core Buddhism class series each January. Since it has usually been held in my home, some years it was not announced in the newsletter. This isn’t a usual year! To keep my word to those on the “want class” list that I maintain, a notice has already been sent to those on the list, but there are still some openings.
I’ve come to realize that even though this class is very appropriate for beginners, advanced practitioners can also benefit from an organized approach to the teachings central to all of Buddhism. The full name of the class is: The Core of the Buddha’s Path and Its Relation to Meditation. The meditation portion focuses on mindfulness meditation.
This year the class will be taught on Zoom. The series will start on Saturday, January 9, 2021, and continue for five consecutive Saturdays (through February 6) from 4:00 to 6:10pm, which includes a 5-10 minute break.
As usual the teachings are freely offered. If this was an in-person class, as per the Sangha’s usual practice for classes, there would be a dana basket for the Sangha and one for the teacher. This year all donations will go to White Heron Sangha.
Enrollment is limited to 12. I am asking that all enrollees make a firm commitment to attend all five sessions.
One advantage of a Zoom class is that if attendees have even a mild winter cold, they can still attend without jeopardizing the health of the others! If you want to take the class and already know you will need to miss one session, we can talk. If you already know you will need to miss two classes, please wait for another session.
