This class series will cover the basic practices of body-centered (somatic) meditation.
By using our experience of the body as the basis for meditation we can discover our true life in a deeply connected way. Our body experiences life in a much more fundamental way than our conceptual mind; these practices help to open ourselves to the world of our basic experience. In this class we will learn to take our body as the path to what is deepest and most real in our lives.
For 10 weeks we will explore the basic somatic practices developed by the Buddhist teacher, Reggie Ray, as outlined in his book, The Awakening Body, and apply them to our own meditation practice experience. This is not a class on Buddhism; it is a class on meditation practice.
The class is open to the public. It will be limited to 25 participants due to the size of the space.
