Envisioning Tara: A Half Day Retreat with James Coleman

  • 27 Jan 2018
  • 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • WHS Meditation Center, Avila Village

Tara is the embodiment of enlightened mind, a manifestation of our own deepest wisdom.

In this half day retreat, we will examine her many forms and the wonderful symbolism that surrounds them. We will also do simple practices together that help us to connect with her awakened wisdom and to manifest her love and power in our daily lives.

No prior experience is required. You have only to bring an open mind.

James William Coleman has a PhD from UCSB with a specialty in the Sociology of Religion. He is the author of The New Buddhism (Oxford University Press, 2001) and The Buddha’s Dream of Liberation: Freedom, Emptiness, and Awakened Nature (Wisdom Publications, 2017). He is one of the founding members of the White Heron Sangha, and has practiced in all three traditions of Western Buddhism.  He has been authorized to teach meditation by both Reb Anderson Roshi of the Zen tradition and Lama Palden Drolma of the Vajrayana tradition.
