White Heron Sangha is pleased to sponsor a two-day, non-residential retreat in Morro Bay with Heather Sundberg, an Insight Meditation teacher from the Mountain Stream Meditation Center in Nevada City.
Enjoy a weekend of quiet sitting and walking meditation, which allow our minds to settle down and our hearts to open to an inner wisdom.
Developing a Sense of Embodiment in a world of complexity and speed
In addition to Insight Meditation practice, Heather will offer teachings and practices on awakening through the body, the first foundation of mindfulness. These include Somatic Experiencing and optional simple Qi Gong practices.
Cultivating the Awakened Qualities of Heart in a world of intensity & reactivity
We'll do the heart practices of the Divine Abodes that support awakened heart-full attitudes of mind during our retreat.
Awakening a Mature Awareness as a Reliable Refuge
In addition, there will be awareness practices that are informed by teachings from the Thai Forest Tradition, and time for discussion about how to live all of these teachings in our daily lives.
Heather Sundberg has taught Insight Meditation since 1999 and has completed the Spirit Rock/IMS Teacher Training. Beginning her own meditation practice in her late teens, for the last 25 years, Heather has studied with senior teachers in the Insight Meditation (Vipassana) and Tibetan (Vajrayana) traditions and has sat 1-3 months of retreat a year for almost 20 years.
Between 2010-2015, she spent a cumulative one-year in study, practice, and pilgrimage in Asia. Since 2011, she has been a teacher at Mountain Stream Meditation Center and sister communities in the Sierra Foothills, and also teaches nationally & internationally, especially at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Please visit www.heathersundberg.com for more information about Heather and her teachings.
